Talk to an accident attorney. I got rear-ended last year and made thousands.

thanks man, I'm hoping insurance gives me a big fat check. I loved that car, had it for 6 years. Dunno whether to get another one or something else.

Don't accept a check if you do not feel it is adequate compensation. Insurance companies will usually try to lowball you.

It'll be my agreed value on the paperwork. Australia has fairly decent insurance regulations.

Even so, you should just send a short email to a lawyer to see if they think there's a case. I didn't think I had any injuries, but they told me to get checked out anyway. After an MRI, it turned out I had a herniated disk in my neck. Some internal injuries can only be found this way. Even if you don't have a serious injury like that, you're still entitled to compensation. The email is free, so why not?
